COVID-19 Update

As the situation related to COVID-19 (Coronavirus) is changing daily and Government regulation and advice regarding gatherings and social distancing, the Hoppers Crossing Apex Club has made the difficult decision to postpone are 900th dinner celebrations planned for May the 4th 2020.  Club President Shaun Threadgold told disappointed current and past members that "..due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and as such for everyone's health & well-being, the upcoming 900th dinner meeting has been postponed." 40 years (almost to the day) in the making it was planned to celebrate the milestone with a special dinner meeting. That celebration will now be held over. Mr. Threadgold did leave the door ajar for a future get together. "We APEXians love to celebrate milestones, and as such I can promise the meeting will go ahead as soon as we can guarantee everyone's safety."

A similarly tough decision had to be made in relation to the Club's flagship youth program - the WynSpeak youth public speaking competition. With a launch event set to be held on the 25th of March, the ever growing competition was scheduled to feature seven heats and a final across two age groups. Public health concerns have meant that the 2020 competition has had to be cancelled. It is expected that WynSpeak will be back bigger and better in 2021. Schools in the catchment area have been advised of the cancellation.
