Woodville Family Fun Day

E-mail Print

On Saturday the 27th of August 2011, the Hoppers Crossing Apex Club cooked snags and handed out drinks at the Woodville Family Fun Day which was held at Woodville Park in Hoppers Crossing.

A Wyndham City Council initiative, the Woodville Family Fun Day was well publicised and brought together around 500 local residents to enjoy the activities such as a jumping castle, face painting, and a bbq lunch. Over 70 residents also took the opportunity to liaise with Council representatives and submit suggestions on what could be done to improve the local area.

Those rostered on for the barbeque were Amanda, Geraldine, and Adrian. It soon became clear that we needed more help, however most of our Club members were already committed to attending a Daffodil Day fundraising stall. Prospective member Matt, past member and Past Club President Rita, and Rita’s daughter Denyse came to the rescue.  All of whom were attending the event and noticed that we could really do with a hand.President Amanda, past member Rita and prospective member Matt put in the hard yards to keep up with the rushPresident Amanda, past member Rita and prospective member Matt put in the hard yards to keep up with the rush

All put in over two hours helping load the barbeque and serving customers. Without this help we would have really struggled, so thank you all for your spontaneous act of assistance on the day. The attached photos show the consistent high demand for the snags and drinks, and also the ‘all hands on deck’ approach to keeping the queue ticking over. Our Club enjoyed being part of the Woodville Family Fun Day, and hopes to be of assistance with similar events in the future.

The Hoppers Crossing Apex Club has a strong link to the Woodville Park area as the park and playground were one of the clubs first service projects way back in the 1980's. Things certainly have changed since those days!

Thanks again to everyone who helped out at the Woodville Family Fun Day 2011.
