Club Celebrates 30th Anniversary

On the 20th November 2010, the Apex Club of Hoppers Crossing celebrated a double milestone - the club's 30 year anniversary and its 700th Dinner Meeting.  To celebrate, the club hosted a dinner, which was attended by many apexians past and present, and guests.

Website Launch - 30th Anniversary DinnerTony launching the new club websiteThroughout the evening, guests were entertained by founding member and Life Member of the club John Park, who provided an nostalgic view of the early days of Hoppers Crossing Apex, reminiscing on the rewarding and challenging aspects during the clubs formative years.  John presented the club with an original pre-charter dinner badge, a triangular badge that was created and worn with pride during the early meetings prior to the clubs charter on November 15th, 1980.

Life member Tony Long followed with the official launch of the club's website, a revamped version that provides current and past members, and members of the community with a concise snapshot of the history of the club, together with details of the club's current activities.

Current member Adrian Walker provided a perspective on the club's current membership, how the individuals work together as a team for the greater good of the community, and stressed the importance of strong membership into the future.commemorative plaque presentationCurrent President Geraldine Walker receiving commemorative plaque from DG Matt Hellmann

Guest speaker for the evening was Vaska Dervisovski of Werribee Support and Housing (WSH), who provided attendees with an overview of the work conducted by WSH in our community, and the needs of those seeking assistance from WSH.

Matt Hellmann, current Apex District Governor for Truganina, presented the club president with a plaque from Apex Australia, which congratulates the club on its 30th Anniversary and 700th dinner meeting milestone.

An entertaining fines session was coducted by Tony and Doug, whilst a powerpoint presentation of club images old and new were presented for all to see, highlighting the many good times had over the years by club members.
