Does Apex have any secret handshakes, religious or political affiliations or strange rituals?

Answer

Apex is a non-party political, non-sectarian organisation with membership open to people of good character and standing aged 18 to 45 years. We often involve ourselves in political issues, lobbying for or against particular causes however we don't support any particular side of politics - we only look at the issue. Over the years, Apex has been able to achieve a number of great results through lobbying governments at various levels, including the introduction of free TB x-rays and the establishment of the Civilian Widows Association.

About the only rituals Apex Clubs have is the reciting of the Ideals and Invocation at the beginning of each Apex meeting. There are no secrets - Apex is an open book!

Question

I don't have huge amounts of time available, but would really like to be involved. What sort of time commitment will I be required to put in if I get involved with the Club?

Answer

The short answer is as much as you would like to. The Hoppers Crossing Apex Club has formal dinner meetings on the first and third Monday of each month. Whilst it is hoped that all members can attend the meetings, it is understood that at times this will not be possible. The Club meetings are the basis of Club involvement, so it would be expected that members would be able to attend a majority of Club meetings.

The Club also runs a number of other projects, events and activities. The Club maintains a fairly solid social calendar, providing a number of varied events for Club members and their families to be involved with. The Club also undertakes a number of service activities within the community with which Club members can be involved.

Although there is no minimum time commitment, once you're involved with the Club you'll want to be involved with as many of the activities as you can.

I think I'd like to have a look at what the Hoppers Crossing Apex Club does. What is the best way for me to do that?

Answer

Probably one of the best ways to have an initial look at what the Hoppers Crossing Apex Club does is to come along to a Club dinner meeting. The Hoppers Crossing Apex Club meets on the first and third Monday evenings of each month. The meetings are generally held at a venue within Hoppers Crossing, and as the name implies, usually includes a meal (although this is not generally mandatory).

Meetings are generally for members and guests only, although certain meetings throughout the year are open to partners and friends as well. Dinner meetings tend to be fairly social events, although a formal business meeting is usually conducted as well. I've heard that Apex clubs only have male members. Can I join Apex if I am female?

Answer

Apex allows its member clubs to decide on the gender of their Club membership. The majority of Apex Clubs are mixed gender clubs, that is they have both male and female members. Some Clubs have decided to have a male only membership whilst other have female only memberships. This allows each Apex Club a great deal of flexibility in relation to its membership.

The Hoppers Crossing Apex Club is a mixed gender club with a good spread of both male and female members. We have a number of married couples within the Club as well as single members. This provides a great cross section of the community and creates a great family atmosphere.
